At Arden, we think we are up for most construction challenges, but recently a new client ‘Gretel Enterprises’ pushed us to our technical limits. Chief Executive, Mr Hansel had very specific requirements for his new building.
The location was challenging, being in the middle of the deep dark wood, with access on a narrow path, lined by breadcrumbs, which quickly disappeared when the birds and forest creatures realized crumbs are a good food source.
Mr Hansel had uncommon building materials too; gingerbread, sweets and icing. Our Technical manager, Jack felt this project was achievable and far simpler than the skyscraper beanstalk challenge Arden faced last year.
Jack said “we built a beanstalk that reached to the sky; a standard design house will be a piece of cake”
Our master builders were surprised by the simplicity of the floor plan, and concerned by the lack of foundations, however Gretel Enterprises signed a waiver to allow us to build straight onto the leveled surface. The prefabricated panels slotted into place easily and once we had perfected the icing mortar with some help from Ms Goldilocks who said it had to be ‘just right’ (not too soft and not too hard) the shell of the building was quickly completed.
To complete the task we bought in the experts ‘Fairy Godmother Industries’ who with a ‘wave of a wand’ resolved the interior and exterior decoration. Before handing over to the happy clients, our cleaner, ’Cinders’ gave the building a good clean through.
Gretel Enterprises aim be trading from their new Gingerbread HQ very soon, however the waiver to enable building without foundations, does mean the structure is not resistant to Big Bad Wolves who huff and puff!
A Very Happy Christmas to you all!
